LITTLE SHEPHERDS DAY CARE AND
PRE-PRIMARY SCHOOL

THE CURRICULUM

Little Shepherds is a Christian Pre-School, and therefore we strive to centre our teaching around Christ as far as possible. Each day the children have devotions, either as a whole or in the age groups. During this time the emphasis is on praising and worshipping the Lord, as well as teachings concerning prayer, faith, healing, etc.

The curriculum for Pre-primary Schools, has been incorporated with what management experienced as the essential knowledge a child should have in order to be successfully prepared for Primary School.

The general group method, followed by most Pre-Primary Schools, has been adopted. The daily discussions are enhanced by creative activities. The children also have enough time of free play indoors as well as outdoors, in order to develop gross motor as well as fine motor skills.

SCHOOL READINESS

Whenever the teacher is in doubt about a child’s school readiness, the child, with the consent of the parents, will be referred to the Child Guidance Clinic for a formal evaluation and advice.

GRADUATION

At the end of the school year, all Grade R children take part in a Graduation ceremony and are released onto their new schools. They also receive a certificate to state that they have completed Grade R successfully at this Pre-School. To lend colour to this evening a guest speaker is invited to address the parents, and a concert in which all pre-schoolers are involved, is presented.
